| What is the offset? |
| |
|
| |
The offset is a setting on your Ergomo SportŪ that allows you to
adjust the wattage readout. This may need to be adjusted if it is off
due to mis-calibration, extreme bicycle dimensions, or rider
variability. |
| |
|
| How do I adjust the offset? |
| |
|
| |
- To adjust the offset, simply place your computer in the handle bar
mount and set the bike in a trainer without resistance, or in a work
stand allowing the wheel to spin freely.
- Put your gearing into the highest possible gear ratio, (usually a
53:12), being the big ring in front and the smallest cog in back.
- Connect the Ergomo SportŪ to the data transfer cable.
- Press the middle button for 4 seconds to bring up the standard
display.
- Press the right button briefly 3 times, followed by briefly
pressing both the right and left buttons simultaneously to bring up
the Adjustment/Offset screen.
- Press the middle button briefly to bring the screen to the Offset
2 mode. Here you will find a 3-digit number between 065 and 075. This
screen will allow you to raise the offset # by pressing the right
button, or lowering the offset # by pressing the left button.
Remember, make small, single increment, changes to the offset and try
them before making larger ones. Raising the offset will make the Ergomo SportŪ read higher and lowering the offset will make it read
lower.
- Now press the middle button twice briefly to bring up the
Offset/Adjustment 3 screen. This is where you will determine the force
free value of the sensor. A constant pressure must be applied to the
pedals when setting the offset. Start by pedaling the right crank by
hand about 4 times until you reach approximately 60 rpms. While
continuing to pedal the cranks, press the right button briefly and
continue to pedal until you hear a beep signifying the procedure is
finished and cease pedaling.
- Once the offset is correctly adjusted, simply press the middle
button once, bringing up the wheel circumference setting screen.
- Change the wheel circumference the same way in which you changed
the offset. Once this # matches that of your measured wheel
circumference in millimeters, then press the middle button to finish.
- The Ergomo SportŪ will then begin an 85 second countdown procedure
clearing the memory and dialing in the settings that have been added
to the device.
- Once the computer is done with its countdown, simply press the
middle button, bringing up the normal display screen and begin your
ride.

How do I install the Ergomo SportŪ?
|
| |
|
| |
The installation of Ergomo SportŪ is simple, but does require a handful of tools and a working mechanical knowledge of the bike. All that is required is the basic installation of the bottom bracket (sensor) and the cable that runs up the frame to the handlebars.
The tools that you will need for job include:
- the Ergomo SportŪ bottom bracket tool that is provided with your
purchase
- 8 mm Allen wrench for the cranks
- 2 prong, crank cap remover tool (Shimano or Campagnolo)
- zip ties (provided)
- grease (for bottom bracket)
Follow these steps to install the Ergomo SportŪ
- First remove the cap surrounding the nut on the cranks with the
2-pronged crank cap remover tool. Then remove the cranks by loosening
the nut in the middle of the cranks with the Allen wrench. Using the
bottom bracket tool provided with your Ergomo SportŪ, remove the
bottom bracket by turning the bottom bracket counter clockwise until
it is lose and able to be pulled from the housing.
- Clean out the housing for the bottom bracket with a degreaser or
non-abrasive cleaner.
- Lightly lubricate the Ergomo SportŪ bottom bracket and insert it
into the bottom bracket housing. Do not force it, but gently screw it
into place, clockwise, using the bottom bracket tool provided. Make
sure it is in tight and as flush as it needs to be.
- Run the pick up sensor along the chain stay and wrap it around
the stay until it is tight in a place where it will be accessible to
the sensor you will place on your spokes.
- Run the other wire thats attached to the cradle, for the CPU,
up the bottom tube to the handlebars. Us the zip ties that are
provided to fasten the wires down to the frame and to secure the CPU
cradle to the handlebars in the appropriate position.
- Attach the magnetic sensor to the spokes of your rear wheel in a
position that matches up with the sensor on the seat stay.
- Double check to see that everything is in place, is fastened
down correctly, and put the Ergomo SportŪ CPU into the cradle on the
handlebars. You are ready to roll!
